She waited for years, all of eighteen
To pass through the veil one cold Halloween
The witches were granted only one night,
On All Hallow’s Eve they might walk as they like.
Like leaves on a breeze, they flitted and danced,
But she found herself pausing, as if in a trance
He was just a man, but still caught her eye
So without sharing her truth, she spun him in lies.
He fell for her eyes and the curls of her hair,
The sharp curve of her mouth and most bewitching air
He drew her in close, she felt light as a feather,
And was struck with a burning to hold him forever.
But the trees whispered warnings, the wind shrieked with anger,
A love such as theirs was tangled in danger
These two separate worlds ought never collide
But on All Hallow’s Eve, the balance was tried.
Like sands in an hourglass, time began to run thin
And desperation begets our deadliest sins,
His smile was sheer sunshine, her world was cold, dark and black
She couldn’t stay here, but might take him back.
So she slipped him a potion into a drink
And sweetly she smiled and offered a sip.
Without knowing the flavor, he drank from her cup
And dissolved with just moments before time ran up.
As the moon slipped away and the night sky turned pale
She tried to return to him back through the veil
But her spells and the magic ran dry in her veins
He was stuck in the darkness, and here she remained.

Special thanks to my sister, Nikki, for allowing me to cast her as the witch in this shoot, and to my sister, Andi, for helping me with my lighting.
If you’re not a fan of this sort of post, don’t worry, we’ll be back to business as usual Wednesday. Thanks for reading!

Sam
Thank you so much, Sues! It was my first time photographing a person, so it was definitely tricky and different from my normal pics.

Nikki and Andi, age, married or single and how did you decide who got to model?
thanks for the invite to LinkedIn, but I don’t network at all. Fondly, Pat
Sam
All of my sisters (I have four) are younger and none of them married. Nikki is 18 and looked the part most of all of my sisters. Andi is only 11, so she was a little young for the role 😉 And sorry about the LinkedIn request, it sent out a lot of requests “on my behalf” that I never asked it to! Thank you, Pat! <3
