After reading many banana pudding recipes and comments, I decided to try yours and I’m so glad I did. You made the recipe so easy to follow. I especially like the way you list the measured ingredients within the directions so I don’t have to keep referring back to the ingredient list. The pudding came out perfectly and everyone loved it. Next time I’ll make the vanilla wafers too! Thank you!

I love your recipes and a lot of them (I should say “most” of them) are in my weekly rotation.
I only have one question, it doesn’t pertain to the recipe at all, but WHERE CAN I GET THAT WOODEN SPOON!?!?! 😅 it’s just so adorable!

If you want to really make a delicious banana pudding, forget the banana extract, and roast 2 bananas in a 350°F oven until the skin is completely black, and juices are just starting to leak out.

Mash them up very well, and add to the pudding after you take the pudding off the burner.

My grandma has a childhood memory of her granny making from scratch banana pudding for holidays! This Thanksgiving I gave it a shot & was surprised how easy it was!

Hi Regina! I’m so glad you ultimately enjoyed it! Honestly I would just cook the pudding a little bit longer to thicken it. I haven’t tried making the pudding into a key lime pudding so I can’t say for sure how to do it, but that does sound good. 🙂

Finally after most of the day had passed yesterday, I put the banana pudding together. We moved to Ecuador, and we’ll, they haven’t imported Nilla Wafers yet, which is okay, bc i probably wouldn’t pay the standard $6/box, just to make this. Never made vanilla wafers, used your recipe it was good, especially the batch i burned bc my gas oven went out before they were done, and bc my dial isn’t digital, the oven quickly went from 0-400… Oh, well. The pudding was fabulous!!! The question i have is, even though it was thick enough to coat the spoon, and left trace in the pudding, it was still too liquidy, when adding in the whipped cream, which then didn’t Get thicker, but even more liquidy. I whipped it a while, until it almost “broke” into butter. So, any advice? The flavor of the vanilla pudding had the perfect balance of sweet vanilla and saltiness. On to the bananas, i have a silicone basting brush, so more juice was put on than need be, so, while eating the pudding would have the tang of the lime juice, and reminded me of key lime pie, which has me wondering how to get the vanilla pudding to turn into key lime, without it messing with the custard. I haven’t checked the site, but hope i can find a variation. Thanks so much for the wonderful recipe, and gram measurements!

You are such a wonderful find. I followed all of your instructions and made one of the best things I have ever made. I am so proud of how it turned out. Many told me it was the best banana pudding they had ever tasted. I’m glowing. Making it now for someone very important to me. So I love banana pudding, my mom loves banana pudding, but my brother and daughter don’t. I figured I’d make this for her and I and this is my first time ever making it. Let me just say, everyone now LOVES banana pudding!!! And not only was it served within the 24 to 48 hours of being assembled, it was devoured within that timeframe. The only thing I did different was to prepare it in an 11×7 copper pan. This was perfect and will definitely make again. You make me feel confident as a baker!

Big hit with everyone that’s tried it. I actually cut the powdered sugar in the whipping cream by 50% (I used only 1/2 cup).
This one’s going into my go-to group of recipes…
