It wasn’t underbaked. The toothpick came out clean and it was a great texture, it just fell in the center. Possible I overmixed. I mixed the lumps out and wasn’t worrying too much about mixing because in the video it said it was hard to overmix or more forgiving. Thank you for taking the time to give me your input. I’ll just try it again.

1500 feet shouldn’t be high enough to cause any issues. I would say we are pretty close to the same elevation. Over-mixing or under-mixing can cause a cake to sink. Was it completely baked through? Under-baking can also cause this issue. 🙁

I didn’t but I have heard that could be a cause for a cake falling. I didn’t know if maybe because I’m at a higher elevation maybe I should use less?? Just was looking for your professional opinion. The flavor and texture were amazing, it just fell in the middle which was frustrating.

Hi Sheryl! I’m so sorry this happened! Did you change the amount of baking soda in the recipe?

Did I use too much baking soda? I’m at 1500 foot elevation. I mixed the batter well by hand but I didn’t “whip it” it looked nice and smooth when I poured it with not too much air.

Hi Debby! I’m sorry for the confusion! The written recipe is correct. I was making a double batch of the recipe. 🙂

Which is correct –

This may be the best cake recipe ever. Made it for a family party and people literally scraped the cake stand clean. The frosting is to die for. Reminds me of a buckeye or homemade chocolate pb eggs, only light and fluffy. Also aromatic. The peanut butter smelled amazing.

Hi Sam! We’d recommend our chocolate bundt cake instead. Or, we provide baking instructions for cupcakes in the recipe notes, if you have a cupcake pan. Hope that helps 😊

This recipe is delicious. I made this for my daughter’s birthday and everybody loved this cake, they wanted leftovers to take home. The cake itself is so good, very fudgy but the frosting and ganache take it to another level of delicious.

Hi Robyn! Unfortunately I haven’t ever tried it so I can’t say for sure. Make sure to keep an eye on them so you don’t overbake them. 🙂

Hi Casey! You can halve the recipe to fit your pans. We’re not sure on the bake time though 😊

No the picture is done in 9 inch pans. They are thinner layers, not your standard 2 inch tall layer. It will rise a bit as it bakes. 🙂
