Followed the directions exactly except I had to lower my oven to 325 because it bakes hot. The first time it came out over-baked, but the taste was great.After I baked it for the second and third time all I can say is thank you. I don’t add too much glaze but the cake tastes so good we don’t miss it. Getting ready to try the Vanilla Pound Cake. Hoping I have the same success.

I’ve never been a fan of lemon cake. It’s one of my husband’s favorites. I made this cake tonight, he had 2 pieces before it was cooled! ( he has never in 45 years of marriage eaten warm cake to my knowledge )

Hi Bonita! Are you sure it is baking all the way through before it’s being removed from the oven? Is it gooey in the center when you cut into it? This would be my first guess, but I’m happy to help troubleshoot further!

I love this recipe. The flavor is great. I’ve made this recipe at least five times and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. The cake always falls and I don’t understand why. I don’t think I’m over mixing it. I use all fresh ingredients. I have a thermometer in the oven to make sure the temp is correct. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Hi Adam! Lemon juice isn’t nearly as potent as lemon extract so the flavor won’t quite be what it should be.

I enjoyed very much preparing the cake batter. The end result was spectacular! I shared the cake with several people and received raving reviews. One of them refused to believe that it was made from scratch!
I didn’t have the lemon zest, and instead used only lemon flavoring so there wasn’t a strong lemon flavor as I hoped. However, the texture, flavor, and presentation more than made up for it! I will be baking again, soon!

Another great recipe. I made in 2 loaf pans as I was taking one to a freinds house. I added extra zest to the glaze. I also used 1/2 teaspoon of lemon extract for the cake.

I made my buttermilk by adding the juice of half of the lemon I zested. I wanted more lemon flavor and didn’t have any lemon extract. I also reduced the sugar to 2 cups and it was sweet enough, especially if you glaze it. I also added some zest to the glaze. I always thought my mom had the perfect pound cake recipe, but the addition of the cream cheese in this lemon pound cake made it exceptional.
