Hi Carolyn! Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with sweetened condensed coconut milk so I can’t say for sure how it would turn out. If you do try it, I would love to know how it turns out. 🙂

These macaroons turned out great!!!! I realized toward the end of making them that the recipe called for no sugar unlike other recipes…They taste awesome…
My husband loved them.

Hi Colleen! We are so sorry your macaroons didn’t turn out right. Only sweetened coconut should be used in this recipe, as mentioned in the post. Sweetened coconut is more moist and sticks together better. There are a few other reasons for flat, messy macaroons, and we outline those in the FAQ section of the post. Hope this is helpful and you give the recipe another shot 😊

I used unsweetened coconut and I had a flat mess. Why would the coconut matter? I measured everything else exactly.

Hi Sam,

I’ve made these Macaroons for my Sister and she loved them. They are her favourite.
Now she is asking me to make Chocolate Macaroons. (Arrrggg, lol)
So, do I do them the same way and just dip the entire Macaroon in the Chocolate rather than just the bottoms.
Thank you for all you do. I LOVE your recipes and know I can rely on them to be perfect.

Just finished making these little beauties for my work cookie exchange tomorrow, they turned out fabulous! Used this recipe last year too, everyone loves them! I didn’t process the coconut and I really like the look of the browned bits here and there 🥰

This recipe was very easy to follow and the cookies turned out perfect. This is my first time making macaroons and I was expecting some hiccups but everything worked perfectly. They did not flatten out or pool at the bottom. The video and thorough instructions were really helpful. I only had about 12 ounces of sweetened coconut so I mixed in 2 ounces of unsweetened and it was great. I used 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract. The almond flavor is really nice.

Holy cow! What a difference from the Ina Garten recipe I struggle with every year…tweaking till I get it right. You had me at “or your cooking will POOL.” That was my problem. Wish I could post a picture. This is my new GO TO coconut macaroon recipe. Mahalo!! LeiMomi
